This kid (Kyle Larson) can drive and if you have heard an interview with him, he speaks well and looks good, both of which are important for attracting sponsors which drive the sport. Pun intended. For those of you who do not understand that last part, racing is very expensive and so car owners need sponsorship money to put cars in races. Drivers drive for owners. owners are businessmen and sometimes former racers. These businessmen need to attract sponsorship money and so a driver who can speak well and looks good is as important as his skills behind the wheel.
Kyle Larson has all three traits including the 4th oft forgotten skill of doing whatever it takes to win even if that means playing dirty like Kyle did during speed weeks earlier this year.
